Local Missions
God wants us to love Him and love others. One way we can love someone is by sharing the good news about Jesus Christ with them. Another way is to meet their basic needs for food, clothes, and shelter thereby encouraging a receptive heart that is ready to hear God's call. Listed below are several local missions that do just that. Read through them and let them touch your heart, then get involved.
Alpha Pregnancy Center—Capital District, NY
The Alpha Pregnancy Center is a refuge where individuals dealing with pregnancy issues can hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ while experiencing God's great love through acceptance, unconditional love, truthful counsel, and material help.
AWANA—Eastern New York, New York, NY, and Long Island, NY
AWANA is a children's and youth program that evangelizes and disciples children ages 3 to 18 years. This mission organization works to support children's ministry in local churches. It serves as a resource of ideas and training for pastors and church leaders.
Campus Crusade–Family Life Ministries—USA
Campus Crusade Family Life seeks "to effectively develop godly homes who change the world one home at a time." The ministry is currently focused on southern New England and much of upstate New York.
Capital City Rescue Mission, Inc.—Capital Region, NY
The Capital City Rescue Mission is dedicated to proclaiming the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ to the homeless and needy of the Capital Region, providing for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—to help them return to society as productive citizens.
Grace Fellowship Saltbox—Watervliet, NY
Saltbox provides positive social and educational experiences for at-risk teenagers—where they can find the ultimate acceptance they are seeking. This is a place where high school-aged kids can hang out and call their own. It provides a positive entertainment alternative, a place for youth culture in the community. Saltbox is a youth outreach of HsSalt Ministries.
Hope for Women House—Capital District, NY
This mission provides temporary residence assistance, intense discipleship in the Word, and practical training and education. Hope for Women strives to bring hope to the women struggling in this community by establishing a firm foundation of ethical, professional, and practical skills surrounded by a Christ-centered environment conducive to learning.
Indo-American Evangelistic Outreach—Capital District, NY
This outreach hosts a Christmas event that provides dinner, evangelism, and fellowship to the Greater Capital District Indian community.
J.C. Club—Children's Feeding Center—Albany, NY
The J.C. Club—Children's Feeding Center improves the lives of at-risk inner city children by serving them a nutritious daily meal and sharing the Gospel with the community.
Youth for Christ—Capital District, NY
Youth for Christ reaches out to teenagers with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. This takes place at local schools, Campus Life and City Life Clubs, Shiloh's Edge Wilderness Ventures, Teen Parents programs and Youth Guidance.
